Introduction
Hello! My name is Edgard, and this is my music blog.
This blog was something I had been wanting to do for a while and I figured that, since I was graduating with my bachelor's in Journalism pretty soon at the time, now was as good a time as any.
My goal in creating this blog was to not only shine a light upon the musicians who make up the local music scene that I am a part of, but to also find some way, some method of articulating the thoughts and ideas that go into creating the music that these people made. How does any of it work? How is this music created and how do the people who create this music work? What are their goals, their ambitions in life? And what are some of the struggles they face in trying to achieve those goals? Through the first four stories, I wanted to humanize the artists I interviewed, explore their outlooks on life, and illustrate some of the ways that I related to each of them, too.
However, with it now having been about 9 months since posting the last story I wrote, I've come back to this blog wanting to do something different with it. With each new blog post, I want to instead focus on writing about the things that occur to me about music. These stories will be a lot more associative, a lot more anecdotal in nature, and will read far more like a diary than anything else. I think they'll be worth writing, though, if only for the catharsis I'll feel from putting my thoughts into words, looking back on a memory, and being able to recall the way it made me feel in the moment that it happened. Hopefully they'll be worth reading for that reason, too.
